INAUGURAL CONFERENCE: NATIONAL SECURITY LAW AND CYBERSECURITY

Security is the basis on which a society can develop, preserve its freedom and the prosperity of its citizens and ensure the stability and proper functioning of its institutions. Spanish legislation recognises and interprets this as such, and it contains regulatory instruments that, through the framework designed by the Constitution, regulate the key aspects that have been allowing public authorities to meet their obligations in this area.

WORKSHOP ON PROTECTION OF CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE

This workshop will discuss international advances in matters of protection against cyber threats to critical infrastructure, coinciding with the 2015 MERIDIAN Conference. Attendees will receive updated information about the MERIDIAN process from its coordinators, as well as information about the main challenges and plans of action that the intergovernmental platform will be discussing during the meeting in León.

MAIN CONFERENCE: CURRENT CHALLENGES FOR CYBERSECURITY

According to the report from Task Force 3 (GT3) of the Platform for Network and Information Security of the European Union (Network and Information Security, NIS) published in May 2015, the accumulated growth rate for the global cybersecurity market is estimated at between 8% and 13.4% annually for 2014-2019.

These indicators reveal a large opportunity for the growth of the Spanish industry and its internationalisation, while still recognising the fact that the market is very competitive. This discussion will analyse, from two different perspectives on the global economy, how the market and economic actors may change.

PRESENTATION OF THE CYBEREXERCISES 2015

The Cyberexercises of CyberEx 2015 have been carried out by Spanish strategic operators with the purpose of testing the resilience of the companies with the greatest impact on national security. These exercises have taken place throughout the month of September, involving about 20 organizations from different strategic sectors: energy, finance, telecommunications, transport, etc. For its part, the International CyberEx have been organized in conjunction with Organization of American States and provided the opportunity for 45 international teams to participate in this experience for the first time.

The results and conclusions of these exercises will be presented before leading members of management of the strategic operators involved, taking advantage of the proposed framework to analyse specific cases and discuss different plans of action.
